Squad Selection: What rotation will FC Dallas use against the Houston Dynamo?

New, comments

Back to midweek games, FC Dallas will look to rotate some of their lineup as they take on Houston.

Here we go again, another midweek clash with the Houston Dynamo.

FC Dallas will travel down to Houston tomorrow to battle the Orange for the third time this season. Luchi Gonzalez has a pretty healthy squad going into this game but as we all know, rotation may be key given the workload and game at home this Sunday with Minnesota.

Last week we saw Dallas get back to scoring goals with Michael Barrios finally finding his groove on this season with a goal and a penalty earned that Reto Ziegler later scored. The only downfall of that was seeing the defense give up two bad goals to the Crew.

The big question going into Wednesday’s game will be whether or not we see any rotation in the defense to help give some guys some rest or just to try something new out. Dallas has done well so far this season against the Dynamo, with a 0-0 draw and a 2-1 win under their belts so far in the season series.

What would you like to see happen tomorrow in Houston? Should there be a defensive change like bringing back John Nelson to give Bryan Reynolds a bit of a break? Or maybe going back to a 5-3-2 look? Let’s discuss that below.

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Wednesday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, some of those are fluid each week):

OUT: Paxton Pomykal (hip), Santiago Mosquera (undisclosed)

LOAN: Francis Atuahene (San Diego Loyal), Pablo Aranguiz (La U), Callum Montgomery (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi (Austin Bold)

Note: Atuahene and Twumasi should be returning to Frisco soon to quarantine and begin training again with FC Dallas.
