FC Dallas’s offense finally found some life on Wednesday night as they came from behind to win 2-1 over expansion side Inter Miami CF.

Franco Jara put away an early second half penalty kick and then Bryan Reynolds dished up another Ryan Hollingshead game-winner late in the match to seal the three points.

FC Dallas had multiple chances in the first half that Miami was able to hold off. That lead to their only goal of the game before halftime. Gonzalo Higuain was able to find Rodolfo Pizarro after his run through the Dallas backline went unmarked. The Mexican international had no issues putting an open attempt past Jimmy Maurer.

Things improved for Dallas in the second half as Leandro Gonzalez Pirez bumped into Reynolds in his own penalty box in the 56th minute. A penalty was called and Jara was able to slot it past John McCarthy. The goal was Jara’s sixth on the season and first in over a month’s time.

Reynolds was again the reason for the second Dallas goal in the 82nd minute as he played a one-two with Michael Barrios on the right side before crossing it to a wide open Hollignshead at the far post.

Instant Reaction: Maybe it was the updated formation with Jesus Ferreira and Andres Ricarute leading the attack, maybe it was Reynolds getting forward like as much as he was, or maybe it was just luck. No matter what, it was three points earned and three points desperately needed for Luchi Gonzalez and FC Dallas. The win helps keep Dallas well above the playoff line at the moment, and a win this weekend against Houston could even push them into a top four spot if other results go their way (big if, but it isn’t out of the realm of possibility at this point).

Man of the Match: While you want to give it to the goal scorers, it may have to be Reynolds. His second half alone was something to watch and be happy with as he created both goals.

What’s next for FC Dallas: The final Texas Derby match of 2020 is on Halloween night this Saturday as FC Dallas takes on the Houston Dynamo in Frisco.
