Welcome back to our coverage of players with connections to FC Dallas, the FCD Academy, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

With the Winter Break nearing its end and it’s time to get caught up.

Europe

Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga): Weston returned to practice last week after being out since mid-December with a dislocated left shoulder. Weston is expected to be ready to return to action in February.

Carlos Gruezo (FCD - FC Augsburg/Bundesliga): Carlos returned to action for FC Augsburg playing 25 minutes of a Friendly against Cercle Brugge (Belgium top flight). Gruezo has been out of action since August 24, 2019 (4+ months).

Chris Richards (AP/FCD - Bayern Munich II/3. Liga): Richards was with the senior team for their winter training camp. Richards was on the bench for the senior team in a club friendly against FC Nurnberg (German division 2). Richards would enter the match at Right Back to start the second half, and played till the end in a 5-2 loss for Bayern Munich.

The teams had entered the half tied at 1 but once the Reserves entered for Bayern, the entire backline looked completely disorganized against the quick Nurnberg counters. Most of the damage was done against the left side but Richards was beaten on one of the goals.

Getterson (FCD- Maritimo/Liga NOS): Getterson and his team returned to action from the Winter break over a week ago and have already played 2 matches. In the first match, Getterson started against 7th place Rio Ave, and would score the winning goal off a PK:

Sunday, Getterson started and played 62 minutes in a 0-0 draw against 6th place Vitoria Guimaraes. The win and the draw, combine to see Maritimo to 11th place in the Primeira Liga Table, just 1 point behind the 8th place team.
