Back in June, the Major League Soccer’s Players Union released their annual list of player salaries for the 2019 season. We learned then that FC Dallas was spending a decent amount on several key players but we didn’t know what they would be spending in the summer transfer window.
Well, now we know more and boy is it interesting.
Dallas brought in Edwin Gyasi in the summer window, while transferring out Carlos Gruezo (who was once making over $1 million in total compensation). Gyasi is now the club’s second-highest earner after defender Reto Ziegler, making $719,225.00 in total compensation.
Gyasi was a TAM signing, so the price tag fits in that sense. But 82 minutes does not add up well for FC Dallas in this signing.
The club also added Homegrown forward Ricardo Pepi, who clocks in with a total compensation of $113,000.04. Not bad for a teenager. Veteran midfielder Eric Alexander also is making a total compensation of $270,000.00.
* Note: these figures are what players would make over the entire 2019 season.
