Another week, another stellar performance from Ryan Hollingshead who was your top vote getter last week. Will he keep it going?
Taking Care of Business
In the drama of this season and this FC Dallas roster still figuring itself out, a solid win against FC Cincinnati is what the doctor ordered. Goals from Ryan Hollingshead, Michael Barrios, and Zdenek Ondrasek were enough. All in all, just fine and dandy. For once, FCD took care of business as they were supposed to.
Sure, they were supposed to against one of the worst MLS expansion teams in recent history, but this team has played down to their opponents, missed vital chances, and struggled too often. I don’t like that they are finally figuring something out so late in the season. The margin for error is absolutely thin, and with the way the West looks, it could still be a difficult project to claim a playoff spot.
But it’s fine.
Let’s hope FCD can use the next two weeks to solidify their identity and get some results on the road.
The Future Is Still Bright
Despite my slightly negative tone above, I am so excited for who FC Dallas might still become. I know fans have rightly expressed their frustration at FCD’s lack of success in the transfer market at times. It’s rightful to be frustrated. But when you see Brandon Servania, Jesus Ferreira, Paxton Pomykal, and Ricardo Pepi all make positive contributions on the field, you’ve got to be hopeful about what this squad can do become.
In fact, Brandon Servania is my HIGHLY recommended vote for Workhorse this week. He has had his ups and downs, but the youngster is growing in confidence and finding ways to bring his particular skills into focus to help this team. When he is working in higher tempo passing style, FC Dallas is hard to deal with. If he can add more tweaks to his game, it’s a huge answer in the middle of the field for years to come.
