Roster Move: FC Dallas signs Eric Alexander

FC Dallas signs veteran midfielder.

FC Dallas decided it was time to bring back the old squad that took this team to the MLS Cup Final back in 2010. Today, Dallas announced they have brought back former FCD midfielder Eric Alexander and signed him to a deal. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Eric Alexander was previously playing for FC Cincinnati, having played for the expansion side six times in 2019. Alexander also had stops in Houston, Montreal, New York Red Bulls and the Portland Timbers after leaving Dallas after the 2011 season when he was traded to Portland.

Alexander made 39 appearances for Dallas in two seasons (2010-11), scoring two goals in the process and helping Dallas appear in the MLS Cup Final in 2010.

This is an interesting move by Dallas as midfield isn’t a weakness on this current roster at the moment. There is speculation now whether Dallas is about to lose a midfielder, or there’s a deficit somewhere and Dallas thinks adding Alexader to the squad will help anchor the team as they finish off the 2019 campaign.
