The All-Hoops Home & Abroad Team

Come take a look at a very impressive team, consisting of players with ties to FCD, the FCD Academy, and the DFW Metroplex,

With fans of FCD lamenting what was, and what could have been, it’s time to do another All-Hoops Home & Abroad Team.

Unlike previous versions of this team, this is the first time that I can sincerely say that this team would be a huge favorite over our current FC Dallas roster.

Manager - Oscar Pareja (Tijuana Xolos) Papi currently has his team 9th place in Liga MX. Since Papi will be calling the shots for the All-HH&A Team, we will line up in his prefered 4-2-3-1 formation.

Goalkeeper - Chris Seitz (Houston Dynamo) If there is one weakness in the All-HH&A team, it’s goalkeeper. Seitz is a known commodity, and has seen action in only three matches this season as Houston’s #2 Keeper. Your backup options are Chicago Fire’s #2 keeper, Richard Sanchez, or Nick Hagen the starter for CSD Municipal in the Guatemala top flight.

Center Back - Ramiro Funes Mori (Villarreal) From a position of weakness, we move to a position of strength. A regular call-up for the Argentina Men’s National Team, Ramiro is currently anchoring the three-man backline for Villarreal in La Liga (Spanish top flight).

Center Back - Walker Zimmerman (LAFC) An MLS All-Star and regular starter for the USMNT, Zimmerman is currently anchoring the backline for the best team in MLS. Your backup options at center back are Omar Gonzalez (Toronto FC), and Chris Richards (Bayern Munich II).

Left Back - Anton Nedyalkov (Ludogorets) Anton is currently altering starts between Left Back and Center Back for reigning Bulgarian champs Ludogorets, who are currently in the middle of UEFA Europa League qualifying. Your backup options at left back are Maynor Figueroa (Houston Dynamo), and Marquinhos Pedroso (DC United)

Right Back - Shaq Moore ( CD Tenerife) Kinda cheating here, but you can’t overlook the player currently plying his trade for CD Tenerife of La Liga. Your backup option at right back is Atiba Harris (OKC Energy).

Defensive Mid - Carlos Gruezo (FC Augsburg) Protecting the backline, will be none other than Ecuador National Team starter Carlos Gruezo. Carlos is busy making a good impression for FC Augsburg of the Bundesliga (German top flight), and is pencilled in as a starter for them. Your backup option at this position, is Victor Ulloa (FC Cincinnati).

Defensive Mid - Weston McKennie (Schalke 04) The one that got away, will handle box-to-box duties for this team. He is now a regular starter for the USMNT, and is in line to wear the captains band for Schalke 04 of the Bundesliga. Your backup options at this position are Keaton Parks (NYCFC) and Emerson Hyndman (Atlanta United FC).

Attacking Mid - Mauro Diaz (Shabab Al Ahli Dubai) Mauro featured for a team that was one game away from winning a treble, and will compete in this year’s AFC (Asian) Champions League. Your backup options here are Christian Cappis (Hobro IK) and Pablo Aranguiz (Union Espanola).

Left Mid - Fabian Castillo (Queretaro) The one player that FCD just can’t seem to replace. Castillo currently has one goal in three starts for Liga MX second place team Queretaro. Your backup option here is Roland Lamah (FC Cincinnati).

Right Mid - Tesho Akindele (Orlando City SC) Tesho is making sure that everyone in FCD misses him, currently having scored a career high eight goals, including one against his former team. Your backup options are Lee Nguyen (LAFC) and Getterson (Maritimo).

Center Forward - Rogelio Funes Mori (Monterrey) Despite his team bringing in a big name player to take his position, Rogelio simply continues to bang in goals. Rogelio has scored three goals in three starts for Monterrey to kick off the Apertura. Your backup option here is David Texeira (Maritimo).

Final Thoughts:

As you can see, this team is loaded at several positions, with the trio of midfielders being quite impressive. The backup options across the board are both deep, and offer great flexibility (just like Papi likes his teams). I would pick this team to beat our current FCD roster, and I long for the day that some of these players join FC Dallas.

So what do you think? Would you favor this team over FCD? Did I leave out any players? Disagree with some of the starters? How would you line up this team?
