The road to a MLS playoff spot continues to get tougher for FC Dallas as they fell on the road Saturday night 2-0 to Orlando City.

Despite controlling the possession in this one, Dallas struggles to create chances up front.

Orlando got on the board first in the 13th minute thanks to defense-splitting pass from Ruan that found former FCD attacker Tesho Akindele on the back end to score the game’s first goal.

Late in the game Dallas had a penalty shout on a handball in the box. Referee Silviu Petrescu reviewed the play via Video Review but denied Dallas the opportunity to even things up.

Moments later in stoppage time, the Lions picked up an insurance goal as Sacha Kljestan set up Carlos Ascues for with a clever stepover heel flick.

Instant Reaction: Maybe it was the weird week of training by having so many players gone. Maybe it was the humidity. Whatever the case may be, it felt like yet another wasted opportunity out of this group on the road to get positive points this season. The possession was there, the chances just were not. Simple as that.

Man of the Match: It is tough to give anyone a good nod in this one but Matt Hedges or Reto Ziegler may have been the best out there on the night for FCD.

What’s next for FC Dallas: Coming up next week, FCD returns home to host Minnesota Untied as they begin a three games in eight day stretch.
