Squad Selection: Will we see FC Dallas make any big changes for the Texas Derby?

FC Dallas is back at home for two straight weeks.

The Texas Derby’s second leg is finally here as we get to see FC Dallas take part in the league’s big Rivalry Week push.

Last week was a rough one for Luchi Gonzalez’s side as they were on the road in LA in the midweek, followed up by a trip to Montreal on the weekend. We saw them drop points in LA in a game that LA controlled, while they stormed back in the last half hour against Montreal to salvage a 3-3 draw.

Going into this week we should see some more rotation to the lineup as Dominque Badji has struggled to find the back of the net in the last month or so. Will we see the likes of Zdenek Ondrasek get his first start since May? Or will we finally get the season debut of Cristian Colman, who is coming off a pretty bad ACL injury from last year? Either way, it feels like the offense still need a bit of a spark from a forward, rather than hoping someone on the wings (or more recently, in the defense) will score.

Also, the big question I have on my mind is what Gonzalez does in his midfield. The three-man look of Bryan Acosta, Jesus Ferreira, and Paxton Pomykal works well at times but it also has its draw backs. I would like to see Brandon Servania get another look in the midfield, maybe over Ferreira (maybe try him back out on the wings?).

Either way, this weekend feels like we could see yet another shift in the look of this club as they take on their main rivals in the Houston Dynamo.

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Sunday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, those are fluid each week):

OUT: none

QUESTIONABLE: Santiago Mosquera (lower body strain)

LOAN: Dante Sealy (North Texas SC), Moises Hernandez (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi & Francis Atuahene (Austin Bold), Pablo Aranguiz (Unión Española)
