FC Dallas falls 2-0 to the LA Galaxy

Two Zlatan goals were enough to put away Dallas on the night.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored two goals as he and the LA Galaxy downed FC Dallas 2-0 on Wednesday night in Carson, California. It was LA’s first win in nearly a month, while FC Dallas was shutout for the third time in their last four games.

Dallas best chance came early in the match off a corner kick where Santiago Mosquera’s shot hit the crossbar.

The two sides traded only a few decent looks in the first half before Ibrahimovic found the back of the net in the 68th minute. Cristian Pavon and Jorgen Skjelvik combined in open space on the left wing before Skjelvik crossed the ball into the box where the big Swede was there to slot it past Jesse Gonzalez for the game’s first goal.

Ibrahimovic added to his tally on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute after Reggie Cannon and Pavon came together in the penalty box.

Instant Reaction: The inconsistencies for FC Dallas continue to linger on here in the summer. Last weekend they looked fluid and open in their attack. But last night was a completely different story as they looked a little more timid in possession. LA made the most of their chances when they got them, which at the end of the day is all that matters.

Man of the Match: For Dallas there wasn’t a lot going forward so it may have to be someone in the defense like Matt Hedges or Ryan Hollingshead.

What’s next for FC Dallas: Following this game, the team will board a plain straight to Montreal for their weekend encounter with Maxi Urruti and the Montreal Impact.
