Squad Selection: What lineup will get FC Dallas back on track in KC?

FC Dallas looks to rebound from their loss last week in Minnesota when they head to another rough venue in KC.

After dealing with a loss in Minnesota last weekend, FC Dallas returned home for a midweek friendly last night against Spanish side Sevilla. Now Luchi Gonzalez has to take his club back out on the road this weekend as they will battle Sporting Kansas City.

We’re starting to see some pretty solid lineups out of Gonzalez in recent weeks, definitely some consistency with them unlike what he had to deal with in parts of May and June. Reggie Cannon returned to the lineup after dealing with the Gold Cup, that meant we saw Bressan back on the bench with Matt Hedges and Reto Ziegler leading the defense. I would doubt any defensive changes will happen, even based on who played and who didn’t Wednesday night.

The bigger question will really come down to the midfield. Paxton Pomykal left the friendly on Wednesday with what appeared to be a hamstring issue. Big D Soccer reached out to FC Dallas this morning to see his status and we were told that he is good to go for Saturday and that he doesn’t have any sort of big injury to be concerned with. So that is good. Who comes into the midfield with him will be a question though, does Edwin Cerrillo get rotated in over Brandon Servania? Has Jacori Hayes worked his way back into the starting mix? Can any of them beat out Bryan Acosta?

Lastly, do we get to see more of newcomer Edwin Gyasi this weekend? I would assume he’ll get some minutes off the bench in this one.

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Saturday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, those are fluid each week):

OUT: John Nelson (abdominal)

LOAN: Dante Sealy (North Texas SC), Moises Hernandez (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi & Francis Atuahene (Austin Bold),
