Gruezo was one of several players who debuted with their new teams.

Welcome back to our coverage of players with connections to FC Dallas, the FCD Academy, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Lots of activity involving players connected to FCD, as the preseason action across Europe kicks into gear.

Europe

Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga): Weston was seen yesterday in Frisco, attending FC Dallas practice, handing out hugs and handshakes.

Weston will have a new coach next season, and there are rumors that he may even get the captains band:

Carlos Gruezo (FCD - FC Augsburg/Bundesliga): Carlos, if you haven’t heard by now, has joined FC Augsburg:

Not only has Gruezo joined his new team for preseason preparations, but he has already seen action with FC Augsburg. Yesterday, FC Augsburg had their first friendly against German 6th Division side FC Gundelfingen. Carlos Gruezo entered the friendly at the beginning of the second half, with his team leading 3-0. Gruezo looked good, and comfortable throughout, as his team would go on to win 6-0.

Hey, don’t just take my word for it, see for yourself. Here for your viewing pleasure, is Carlos Gruezo and FC Augsburg in their first match against FC Gundelfingen (2nd half starts 33 minutes into the video):
