Squad Selection: Did a full week of rest help FC Dallas?

New, 1 comment

After dealing with a stretch of double game weeks, FC Dallas finally had a little bit of a breather in the schedule.

After dealing with double-game weeks for the last month, FC Dallas finally got a bit of a break in their schedule this week with no midweek game. To add to that, Reggie Cannon returned from Gold Cup duty on Tuesday and newcomer Edwin Gyasi also began training with the team for the first time this week as well.

Needless to say, Luchi Gonzalez has a pretty full lineup to select from come Saturday when the team heads north to battle Minnesota United for the first time this season. Minnesota is on a bit of a hot streak in terms of scoring. Last night they downed New Mexico United 6-1 in the US Open Cup and last weekend they beat Montreal 3-2.

Last week against D.C., we saw a similar back line that Gonzalez has employed for the last month, along with Bryan Acosta and Santiago Mosquera joining the starting lineup. Those moves seemed to work out well as D.C. didn’t really have an answer for either of them, while Brandon Servania and Paxton Pomykal both had really strong games.

Do we see more of that this weekend or will Luchi opt to change things up yet again?

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Saturday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, those are fluid each week):

SUSPENDED: none

OUT: John Nelson (abdominal)

QUESTIONABLE: Pablo Aranguiz (lower leg injury)

LOAN: Dante Sealy (North Texas SC), Moises Hernandez (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi & Francis Atuahene (Austin Bold), Cristian Colman (North Texas SC)

Note: As of this writing, Edwin Gyasi may not be eligible for selection this weekend due to his paperwork not being complete.
