EDIT: FC Dallas has now officially announced this loan. Gyasi joins the club on loan from Bulgarian first-division team CSKA Sofia using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM). FC Dallas has the option to buy Gyasi’s contract at the end of the 2019 season to make the transfer permanent and will occupy an international slot.
Last week, CSKA Sofia released a statement announcing negotiations were underway for Edwin Gyasi to join an unnamed MLS team on loan.
Today, CSKA Sofia officially announced that Edwin Gyasi will be joining FC Dallas on loan, until the end of the year, with an option to buy.
It's in Bulgarian, but the news were first announced on Twitter by Bulgarian news reporter mshumanov:
Gyasi will join FCD at the start of the summer transfer window. Gyasi is a left winger, who is a member of Ghana men’s national team, earning five of caps coming in the last 13 months. He turned 28 years old today (Happy Birthday!).
Last season, Gyasi played in 38 games across all competitions for CSKA Sofia, scoring five goals and eight assists. He can play anywhere in the attacking third, including both left and right wing, with several starts at attacking midfielder.
Gyasi was not highly thought of, at the time he joined CSKA Sofia two years ago. In that time, his value on Transfermkt.com has quadrupled and currently sits at $2 million. His star is rising, and he was coveted by Turkish clubs Trabzonspor and Besiktas. Several European clubs were also tracking his progress.
So what do you think? Is he the next Roland Lamah? The next Getterson? Let us know what you think!
