Hoops Home & Abroad: Same faces, new places

Time to update Hoops Home & Abroad, as several players are on the move, or rumored to be on the move.

Welcome back to our coverage of players with connections to FC Dallas, the FCD Academy, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The first report in quite a while, so let’s get you all caught up!


Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga: Weston got called up for the USMNT, and started in the 4-0 USMNT victory over Guyana.

Here are all of McKennie’s touches from that match:

Anton Nedyalkov (FCD - Ludogorets/Bulgaria): Anton and his team won the Bulgarian League last season.

Anton and his team are now in the middle of their preseason preparations. Ludogorets played yesterday in a Friendly, against Slovenian top flight club Triglav. Anton did not start, but he did enter in the 61st minute of a 4-0 victory.

Chris Richards (AP/FCD - Bayern Munich/U19 Bundesliga): Since we last reported on Chris, was the best defensive player (and possibly best player) on the USMNT U20 squad, that advanced to the U20 WC Quarterfinals before being eliminated.

The good news for Chis, did not stop there:

Bayern Munich U23 was promoted to the 3rd Division, and Richards is expected to be a starter for them from day one. He could also be in line for Cup action with the Bayern senior team.

And if that wasn’t enough good news for Richards:

Ramiro Funes Mori (DFW - Villarreal/La Liga): Ramiro is currently with the Argentina National team, competing in the Copa America. He was on the bench, but did not play in the 2-0 loss against Colombia.

Emerson Hyndman (DFW - Bournemouth/EPL): Emerson probably wishes this rumor was true:

Getterson (FCD- Maritimo/Liga NOS): Getterson looks to have been retained for next season by Maritimo, where he saw action in 14 matches, starting 11 of those matches, and scoring two goals.

David Texeira (FCD-Moreirense/Liga NOS): David also looks to have been retained by his Portuguese club, where he featured in 21 matches, starting 10, coming off the bench in 11, while scoring six goals with one assist across all competitions.

Christian Cappis (AP - Hobro IK/Danish Superliga): In case you weren’t aware, Hobro IK was in a relegation playoff, and Cappis did his part to keep the team in the Danish top flight:

Rogelio Funes Mori (DFW-Monterrey): Rogelio is rumored to have interest from outside of Liga MX:

Fabian Castillo (FCD - Liga MX): Fabian looks to have a new home:

Alejandro Zendejas (AP/FCD - Guadalajara/Liga MX): Alex is one of 26 players partaking of preseason preparations with the senior Chivas team in Cancun.

Nick Haden (AP - Municipal/Guatemala): No News

Major League Soccer & USL Championship

Kellyn Acosta (AP/FCD - Colorado Rapids): Kellyn came off the bench in USOC action last week, as Colorado lost to USL club New Mexico United on penalties (4-2).

Tesho Akindele (FCD - Orlando City SC): Tesho started Wednesday night, in USOC action against the New England Revolution. Tesho would score a goal in the 2nd extra period, to seal a 2-0 victory for Orlando, as they move on into the USOC Quarterfinals.

Maynor Figueroa (FCD-Houston Dynamo): Maynor is currently with the Honduras National team for the Gold Cup, and started in their 3-2 loss against Jamaica.

Lee Nguyen (DFW) & Walker Zimmerman (FCD - Los Angeles FC): Walker is with the USMNT, and started in the 4-0 win over Guyana.

Lee started against San Jose, in USOC action last night, and helped his team answer San Jose’s opening goal:

Lee got his third assist in an LAFC shirt, as his team went on to win 3-1.

Roland Lamah (FCD), Victor Ulloa (FCD/AP) Eric Alexander (FCD) & Corben Bone (DFW- FC Cincinnati): No news

Maxi Urruti (FCD - Montreal Impact): No news

Marquinhos Pedroso (FCD - DC United):No news
