Squad Selection: Will youth be served again in the US Open Cup for FC Dallas?

FC Dallas has a double game week at home with a USOC match up first.

MLS: U.S. Open Cup-OKC Energy at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Last week youth was served for FC Dallas as they took on OKC Energy in the Fourth Round of the 2019 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Dallas prevailed by a 4-0 scoreline to help them advance to the Round of 16 where they’ll host another USL Championship side this week, New Mexico United.

With two games this week for Luchi Gonzalez, he could opt to continue using a fairly young lineup while beginning to mix in some guys like Pablo Aranguiz and Paxton Pomykal, who have returned from their international duty.

We saw the likes of Ricardo Pepi loaned up to the squad last week for their game against OKC, as he made his first start for FC Dallas. No word yet on if he will be loaned up for this game as well or if he will be back with North Texas SC.

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Wednesday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, those are fluid each week):

OUT: Santiago Mosquera (knee)

QUESTIONABLE: Cristian Colman (torn ACL)

LOAN: Dante Sealy (North Texas SC), Moises Hernandez (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi & Francis Atuahene (Austin Bold)

INTERNATIONAL DUTY: Carlos Gruezo (Ecuador, Copa America), Bryan Acosta (Honduras, Gold Cup), Reggie Cannon (United States, Gold Cup)
