In a tense vote that went down to the wire, Ryan Hollingshead edged out John Nelson and Dominique Badji by two votes to claim the Workhorse for last week’s home win against Seattle.

Stay tuned to that channel.

We Need a Little Luck

Over the course of a brutal, grueling, difficult season, any good team needs some luck. In years past, I think we’ve seen FC Dallas get denied bounces more often than not, so it was nice at San Jose for the winds of fate to blow in their direction, pushing an errant ball by Vega into the net. FC Dallas separated an unlikely goal that changed the possibilities for that game. It was a gift, and this team needs some gifts!

Looking over the rest of the match, San Jose are doing some things really well, so you have to give them credit for buying into Almayeda’s system and playing with their typical tenacity. By that early mark of the second half, FC Dallas was looking to add another road defeat to their mix of struggles, until Francis Atuahene checked in.

What. A. Goal.

Due to that goal, FC Dallas were able to leave the west coast with a tough point and continued emerging confidence that they can find ways to get results.

This team has a lot to learn. Their international call ups are wonderful for the youngsters and professionals who will continue to raise the profile of FC Dallas abroad, but it has meant difficult choices for Luchi Gonzalez to field teams that can grind out results. As players begin to return, hopefully, the team can get back to a more consistent winning style with Paxton Pomykal and others in the fold.

As you go to vote, check out what Bobby Warshaw had to say about Ryan Hollingshead:

How can you not give props to someone who has played five different positions in 15 games? Hollingshead started the season at left back, and has since played left wing, right back, center back, and defensive midfield. At none of those spots has he looked out of place. FC Dallas have been hit hard by international call ups and injuries, and Hollingshead has helped them keep their heads above water. With that said, FCD need to get Paxton Pomykal back into the team ASAP if they want to finish above the playoff line.

You have a number of players you can toss a vote to, including Ryan Hollingshead for lining up in another position and doing a capable enough job. Jacori Hayes also has looked good and solid, contributing with an assist and doing some good work on the defensive end.
