After an hour and a half of waiting through a heavy rain storm, FC Dallas downed the Seattle Sounders 2-1.

FCD picked up two own goals in the first half in route to ending their six-game winless sreak.

FC Dallas got on the board first thanks to some help from Seattle defender Xavier Arraega. Michael Barrios cross the ball into the box in the 33rd minute that found Ryan Hollingshead on the back post. Hollingshead’s header went down but was redirected into the net by Arraega.

Five minutes later Dallas doubled their lead on a crafty free kick that saw Barrios played through behind a Seattle defender. Barrios crossed the ball once he got into the penalty box and it caused Brad Smith to accidentally hit the ball into the back of the net.

Seattle got one goal back in the 65th minute from Raul Ruidaz. Alex Roldan and Will Bruin helped free up Ruidaz at the top of the penalty box where he took one touch to beat Matt Hedges before firing a shot that curled towards the upper corner past Jesse Gonzalez.

Instant reaction: The urgency out of FC Dallas was certainly there tonight in the first half as they picked up two nice goals, even if they were own goals. Guys like Bryan Acosta, Dominque Badji, and Barrios looked a lot better this week. I also enjoyed the Thomas Roberts on the night as he gave the team a decent spark in the attack.

Man of the match: This one feels like a toss up between guys like Acosta, Matt Hedges and Badji for me.

What’s next for FC Dallas: The squad hits the road again here as they face off against the San Jose Earthquakes.
