Luchi Gonzalez’s squad enters the first game of June with several players missing for international duty and still some injuries. One guy we know that will be back is Matt Hedges, who sat out the last game in Vancouver while he served a red card suspension.
The big question really comes down to who will be in the midfield and possible what shape the formation will be. We’ve seen some success this season in a 5-3-2 type look, as well as the tried and true 4-3-3. Do you go with more players in the back to counter a tough Seattle team that has only two losses on the season? Or do you try to use Carlos Gruezo and Bryan Acosta one more time before they leave for international duty? Does Jesus Ferreira get a chance at playing the playmaker role (something he did a lot in under Gonzalez in the academy system)?
Here is what we know in terms of availability for Saturday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, those are fluid each week):
OUT: Santiago Mosquera (knee)
QUESTIONABLE: Cristian Colman (torn ACL), Francis Atuahene (pectoral muscle)
LOAN: Dante Sealy (North Texas SC), Moises Hernandez (San Antonio FC)
INTERNATIONAL DUTY: Paxton Pomykal, Edwin Cerrillo and Brandon Servania (U-20 World Cup), Pablo Aranguiz (Chile U23s)
Note: Gruezo (Ecuador) and Acosta (Honduras) will depart for their national teams following this game on Saturday.
