The midfield woes for FC Dallas are about to get even more complicated for first year manager Luchi Gonzalez. Midfielder Pablo Aranguiz has been called into Chile’s U-23 side for the Toulon Tournament, which runs June 1-15.
The 22-year old has made 11 appearances (seven starts) this season for Dallas, but has yet to register a goal or assist in 20 total matches since being acquired last season.
Aranguiz is added to the growing list of player out on international duty this month including Paxton Pomykal, Brandon Servania and Edwin Cerrillo at the U-20 World Cup. Bryan Acosta (Honduras) and Reggie Cannon (United States) were included on their nations’ preliminary Concacaf Gold Cup squads, while Carlos Gruezo is on Ecuador’s Copa America squad.
We’ll dive into this more in the coming days as FC Dallas continues to prepare for Seattle this weekend but with so many key players out in the midfield in the coming weeks, who does Gonzalez turn to? That will be an interesting thing to debate and discuss over the next couple of days.
