Squad Selection: How will FC Dallas approach the Texas Derby?

Some new injuries have popped up for Luchi Gonzalez to deal with this weekend.

Texan pride will be on the line this weekend as FC Dallas travels south to take on the Houston Dynamo for the first time in 2019.

Luchi Gonzalez’s squad will start the month of May with some challenging roster decisions to make as Paxton Pomykal is out for the next two weeks (or more with the U-20 World Cup coming up too). Gonzalez has some options as to who might fill in for the star Homegrown this weekend with guys like Santiago Mosquera or Pablo Aranguiz looking like viable candidates to fill in.

A lot will depend on whether or not they’ll be filling in on the wings or in the midfield. Last week, Gonzalez placed Pomykal on the wings with Bryan Acosta coming back into the midfield along side Edwin Cerrillo and Carlos Gruezo. He could use that same midfield this weekend and just insert either Aranguiz or Mosquera into the attack, or go a different direction.

What other changes would you like to see happen? Does Dominque Badji return to the lineup now that he is healthy? Or will you continue to place him on the bench behind Jesus Ferreira?

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Saturday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, those are fluid each week):

OUT: Cristian Colman (torn ACL), Francis Atuahene (pectoral muscle), Paxton Pomykal (hamstring)

QUESTIONABLE: Bressan (hamstring)

LOAN: Dante Sealy (North Texas SC), Moises Hernandez (San Antonio FC)

Note: As of this writing Marquinhos Pedroso is still apart of the FC Dallas roster and has not been traded to D.C. United. But given how his Instagram is all him in D.C. at the moment, that trade is coming at some point in the near future.
