The spring slide continues for FC Dallas they fell on Thursday night to LAFC 2-0.
Bob Bradley’s club continues their league-leading ways as Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi picked up goals in the win, their first over FC Dallas since joining MLS. The loss extended FC Dallas’ losing streak to three games.
Luchi Gonzalez brought out a 3-4-3 look in this one, in hopes to get something going in the attack. Newcomer Zdenek Ondrasek started his first game at striker but his efforts weren’t enough as Dallas put up zero shots on goal in the loss.
LAFC scored early and never looked back as Vela scored off a simple pass ten minutes into the match from Eduard Atuesta. The goal was Vela’s 13th of the season.
FC Dallas looked to get a little more control in the second half but were unable to connect on any chances up top. Rossi put the game away for LAFC in the 83rd minute when he found a pass from Adama Diomande inside the penalty area. The goal was initially called offside but video review came back and allowed the goal.
Instant reaction: While Gonzalez was able to adjust his team’s look in the second half to LAFC’s pressure, the lack of chances up front really stung. Given who all is missing at the moment for FC Dallas, this is going to be a rough stretch to overcome if no one steps up in the attack.
Man of the match: For me it may have to come down to Matt Hedges. The veteran center back did about all he could to keep FCD in this one.
What’s next for FC Dallas: Gonzalez’ side will return home Friday as they prepare for another round with LAFC on Sunday evening.
