Squad Selection: How will Luchi Gonzalez handle a double game week?

New, 7 comments

Loads of questions surround FC Dallas’ roster going into this week’s two games with LAFC.

Roster selection for Luchi Gonzalez could be very interesting this week with two games against the league’s best squad in LAFC.

FC Dallas hits the road today as they travel west for their Thursday night match against Bob Bradley’s club. Following the loss to New York last weekend, Gonzalez was left with more questions as to who would step up now that the injury bug has really taken over this roster.

One thing is certain, we’ll see some rotation this week with a Thursday-Sunday swing. Just what kind of rotation will be interesting to watch. Last week Jesus Ferreira came off the bench for Dominique Badji when he got injured, will he return to the lineup again this week? And in what role (he could slot in at that #10 role). Do we finally see Gonzalez unleash the Cobra in a starting position?

At least we know that Michael Barrios will return from suspension to help the attack out. The bigger question may be who will lineup on the opposite win from him? Ferreria could also slot in there, as could Pablo Aranguiz or even someone like Bryan Acosta. Maybe another dose of Ryan Hollingshead?

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Thursday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, those are fluid each week):

OUT: Paxton Pomykal (hamstring), Santiago Mosquera (knee)

QUESTIONABLE: Bressan (hamstring), Cristian Colman (torn ACL), Francis Atuahene (pectoral muscle), Dominque Badji (hip flexor), Carlos Gruezo (lower body strain)

LOAN: Dante Sealy (North Texas SC), Moises Hernandez (San Antonio FC)

INTERNATIONAL DUTY: Edwin Cerrillo and Brandon Servania (U-20 World Cup)
