Europe

Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga: Weston returned to the starting lineup on Friday, after having missed two matches while recovering from a minor injury. In his absence, Schalke 04 suffered two defeats by a combined 7-0 score. McKennie started strong against Werder Bremen, notching an assist in the opening goal of the match. It would all go down hill from there, as Schalke 04 would suffer a 4-2 road defeat. The loss dropped Schalke 04 to 14th place in the Bundesliga Table.

McKennie started Tuesday, in UEFA Champions League action, at Manchester City. Schalke 04 entered the match down 3-2 on aggregate, and needed to come up big. In an odd move, and one seen by many as a further sign that McKennie will be transferred come summer, McKennie started at Right back. It was a complete disaster for McKennie and his team, as they were trounced by a score of 7-0. Schalke 04 is eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

It wasn’t all bad news for Weston, who got officially called up for the USMNT on Tuesday:

Can’t find a video of the goal itself, but if you forward the match highlights to 1:48 seconds, you will be treated to a thing of beauty:
