East Stand View: Great Weather, Great Game

New, 4 comments

It was immaculate weather for the 2nd game of the year.

MLS: LA Galaxy at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The weather this past Saturday was exponentially better than what were given at the home opener. Not sure if the LA Galaxy brought the LA weather with them on their way over but the respite from the cold was more than welcoming. What the Galaxy did not bring with them from Los Angeles was their generational player named Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which I was totally okay with. Thankfully, we had our generational player in our line up, named Dominic Badji. First let’s chat about the crowd for the game...

No Zlatan, No Problem

From the looks of the crowd, I don’t think everyone in the stadium got the message about Zlatan not making the trip until they had already left for the long trek up to Frisco. There were people everywhere, except for the southern portion of the stadium. Reportedly high prices for the south section meant that part of the stadium stayed sparsely populated when compared to the rest of the stadium.

The visiting crowd were also large in numbers and loud in their voices. Couldn’t hear them most of the time over the louder El Matador and Beer Guardians in my right ear. Thankfully our team, and their team, gave the LA fans in the stadium little to nothing to cheer about. Goals from Acosta and Reto made sure of that, but there was another name that should’ve been on the score sheet but was unfortunately missing....

Dominic Badji

Okay, I’ll start this off by saying that I was initially pretty excited that we were getting Badji when we first traded for him. Not Matt Doyle level of excited, but still excited. Berate me in the comments if you fancy having a go at me about that but I stand defiant. Large sections of crowd stood up when Dom rounded the LA Galaxy goalkeeper looking poised to get on the score sheet for his first goal of 2019. Then. He did what FC Dallas strikers have all done for years and years as if tradition around Toyota Stadium. He missed. Looks like it’s going to be another long year for FC Dallas strikers.

And finally, your fan quote of the day: “Badji, more like Bad....g”

Did you go out in this God-given weather and enjoy an FC Dallas win at the stadium? Did you sit near the away fans section or mingle with the away fans? Are you going to heckle me about my initial support for Dom Badji? Let me know in the comments below!
