After spending the week as guests in FC Dallas’ locker room and training facilities, Bayern Munich’s second team received a significantly less warm welcome on the Toyota Stadium pitch as FC Dallas took down the German youth side, 4-0.
FC Dallas controlled the game from the outset after Dominique Badji headed a Carlos Gruezo cross into the net just three minutes into the action. Badji’s goal was the first of four goals FCD put on Bayern Munich in the first half.
Twelve minutes later, Jacori Hayes doubled the lead with a cool strike into the bottom right corner after finding space in the middle of the box. Less than ten minutes later, Reto Ziegler sent Bayern Munich keeper Michael Netolitzky the wrong way as he converted a penalty drew by Michael Barrios after being fouled in the box.
Santiago Mosquera put a cap on a terrific first half from the hosts after putting a deflected shot from Barrios into a gaping net to take a 4-0 lead to the break that would hold the rest of the way.
The second half saw much less actions between the sides, though FC Dallas did continue to apply pressure in the attacking third.
FC Dallas made a complete line change mid-way into the second half, allowing for a host of new signings and 2019 draft picks to see their most meaningful playing time yet. They saw out the final 20 minutes, holding tight against Bayern’s best attacking looks of the day.
That same lineup to finish the first game would start the day’s second game against the USL’s San Antonio FC.
