So far we’ve handed out a couple of awards here as we wrap up some things up here on the 2019 season. Today, our staff looks at the top offensive player from FC Dallas.
It probably won’t come to a surprise to many observers as midfielder Michael Barrios has run away with out team voting this time around, earning eight of the 12 available votes. Jesus Ferreira and Zdenek Ondrasek each picked two votes apiece to round out the voting.
Here is what some of our staffers had to say about their selection of Barrios:
“He produced goals, whether he was setting them up or putting them in, for the umpteenth-millionth time.” - Scott Hiney
“Without Barrios, no playoffs.” - Nathan Hill
“Mikey was was Mr. reliable. His number will always be called and he will be the point of emphasis for opposing teams. He still shows up and gives it his all, game after game. It’s weird to say since he is outwide, but he is the straw that stirs the drink for FC Dallas offensively.” - Jared Tilley
“Barrios was the one consistent threat for FCD all season long. Others were streaky, having runs of good and bad games, but the team could always count on Barrios.” - Jose Carmona
“15 assists makes it hard to look elsewhere.” - Jack Rouse
