Squad Selection: How does FC Dallas line up in Seattle for the playoffs?

The last time out of an international break didn’t go so well for FC Dallas.

Here we go folks. The playoffs are here. FC Dallas heads to Washington soon to square off against the Seattle Sounders in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Luchi Gonzalez and company have been practicing behind closed doors this week while a trio of players have been out on international duty. Reggie Cannon, Bryan Acosta and Zdenek Ondrasek are all expected to arrive back in Frisco at some point on Wednesday before the team flies out to Seattle tomorrow afternoon.

Last time out, Gonzalez went back to a midfield trio of Acosta, Brandon Servania and Jesus Ferreira as the team dropped six goals on Sporting Kansas City in the season finale. Gonzalez didn’t even need to bring in Paxton Pomykal off the bench like had previously done.

The big question on all of our minds will revolve around Pomykal and whether or not he is in the starting lineup or a first option off the bench. Gonzalez could opt to keep him in the lineup but as a winger. We saw that look once before in the season, ironically the last time the team went to Seattle and picked up a 0-0 draw last month. But that would also mean Santiago Mosquera would need to come off the bench or Cobra isn’t fit to go due to all the travel he’s had over the past week (highly unlikely but I’m throwing it out there).

What do you do with Pomykal on Saturday? Start him or bring him off the bench? Are there any other big changes you would make as the team heads to Seattle?

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Saturday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, those are fluid each week):

OUT: Bryan Reynolds (knee injury)

QUESTIONABLE: Dominque Badji (quad injury)

LOAN: Dante Sealy (North Texas SC), Moises Hernandez (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi & Francis Atuahene (Austin Bold), Pablo Aranguiz (Unión Española)
