FC Dallas Homegrowns Paxton Pomykal, Brandon Servania and Jesus Ferreira all received call ups to the USMNT U20’s today for their January camp. Pomykal and Servania played for the U20’s during World Cup qualifying and wowed the competition with their combination play and eye for goal.
Ferreira receiving and accepting an invite indicates that his US citizenship is real close (or he’s already received it). Ferreira, son of former MLS MVP David Ferreira, is eligible to play for both Colombia and the United States. It was unclear where he was leaning, but this is a positive step as far as the USMNT goes.
The Homegrowns will also be joined by some familiar faces as Christian Cappis and Mark Salas, both former FCD Academy graduates have also been invited to participate in the camp.
The January camp will run through January 13th and will be a chance for the players to warm themselves to head coach Tab Ramos.
The U20 World Cup will take place in Poland from May 23, 2019 to June 15, 2019. The USMNT U20’s qualified from CONCACAF with Honduras, Panama and Mexico. The draw to determine the groups will take place on February 24, 2019.
