With the fourth pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, FC Dallas has taken center back from UNC-Charlotte, Callum Montgomery.
Montgomery was the consensus top defender in this draft with many pundits stating he was the most pro-ready player coming in this year. He has already signed a senior deal with MLS before the draft.
He’ll likely slot in nicely behind the likes of Matt Hedges and Reto Ziegler in that center back depth chart as well as get some early minutes with FC Dallas’ newest USL1 side North Texas SC this spring.
What do you make of this pick out of Dallas? Are you happy they went with the best overall player available?
As it stands right now, FC Dallas still has the 10th pick in today’s draft, though there are trade rumblings. Stay tuned for more SuperDraft coverage here.
