Hoops Home and Abroad: Jesus Ferreira scores first Hat Trick

Jesus was one of two USL loanees to have a good week.

MLS: Real Salt Lake at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to another week of Big D Soccer’s coverage of your favorite players with ties to FC Dallas, the FCD Academy, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Jesus scored his first Hat Trick, Adonijah played hero for Ottawa, and several players saw action for the USMNT.

Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga: Weston got called-up to the USMNT, and started Friday against Brazil. Weston, was one of the few bright spots for the USMNT on the day:

That was about as close as the USMNT got close to scoring on the night, as they would go on to lose 2-0.

Next Match: USMNT vs. Mexico, Tuesday, September 11, 7:30pm

Keaton Parks (DFW - Benfica/Primeira Liga): Keaton started for Benfica II on Saturday, in a 1-1 draw at Academica. The draw keeps Benfica II first place in the Segunda Liga table.

While Keaton has been featuring for Benfica II, he received bad news, heck, all his US fans received bad news when it was announced that Keaton would not be part of Benfica’s Champion League group stage roster. This is a clear indication that Keaton has taken a step back, and not forward, at Benfica.

Next Match: Benfica II vs. Varzim, Sunday, September 9, 10:00am

Anton Nedyalkov (FCD - Ludogorets/Bulgaria): Since we last checked on the Bulgarian Barbarian, all he has done is nail down the starting center back starting position for Ludogorets. In that timespan, Ludogorets has reeled off a seven-game unbeaten streak.

Anton started Sunday against visiting Dunav Ruse, in a 3-1 victory. The win sees Ludogorets to 3rd place in the First League Table, and extended their unbeaten streak to 8 games.

Next Match: Ludogorets vs. Velaya, Friday, September 14, Noon

Chris Richards (AP/FCD - Bayern Munich/U19 Bundesliga): Chris received a call-up to the USMNT U20’s, who will be participating in a four team tournament that includes the USMNT U19s, Jamaica U20s, and Venezuela U20s.

Ramiro Funes Mori (DFW - Valencia/La Liga): Ramiro is currently in camp with the Argentina National team, and got the start against Guatemala. Ramiro had his moments:

Ramiro didn’t score, but he didn’t need to, as Argentina won 3-0.

Emerson Hyndman (DFW - Hibernian/Scottish PL): Emerson was on the bench Saturday at Livingston. Emerson came on in the 64th minute, with the game tied up at one. Emerson gave the team an infusion of energy on the attack, but it was not enough, as Hibernian would lose 2-1.

Next Match: Hibernian vs. Kilmarnock, Saturday, September 15, 9:00am

Middle East - Preseason

Mauro Diaz (FCD - Shabab Al Ahli Dubai/UAE): Mauro started Tuesday, as Shabab Al Ahli Dubai hosted Al Wahda in UAE League Cup action. It would not end well for Mauro and his new team, as they would fall at home by a score of 1-0. The UAE League Cup is group bases, so this is only the first of several matches for Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.

Next Match: Ajman vs. Shabab Al Ahli Dubai, Saturday, September 15, 11:15am

Omar Gonzalez (DFW - Atlas FC/Liga MX): Omar started Saturday, in a 3-1 loss at Tigres UANL. It has been a rough start for Omar and Atlas, as they currently find themselves dead last in the Liga MX table.

Next Match: Copa MX, Atletico Zacatepec vs. Atlas,

Alejandro Zendejas (AP/FCD - Guadalajara/Liga MX): Alex traveled with Chivas to Los Angeles, where Chivas will face Club America in El Super Clasico on Sunday.

Central America

Blas Perez (FCD - Arabe Unido/Panama): Blas started Sunday at Tauro FC, as Arabe Unido would fall by a 4-1 scoreline.

The loss drops Arabe Unido to 9th place in the LPF Table.

Next Match: Independiente vs. Arabe Unido, Saturday, September 9, 6:00pm

South America

Anibal Chala (FCD - LDU Quito, Loan/Ecuador): Anibal was on the bench, and did not see action in Sundays 2-2 draw at Deportivo Cuenca.

Major League Soccer

Kellyn Acosta (AP/FCD - Colorado Rapids): Kellyn received a called up for the USMNT, and he entered the match against Brazil in the 55th minute, but it wouldn’t be enough, as the US would go on to lose 2-0.

Lee Nguyen (DFW - Los Angeles FC) & Walker Zimmerman(FCD - Los Angeles FC): Lee and Walker both started Saturday, at defending MLS champs Toronto FC.

LAFC would jump out to a quick 2-0 lead, and Lee would help the team extend that lead to three:

LAFC would go on to get a huge 4-2 road victory.

Francis Atuahene (FCD/Loan) & Atiba Harris (FCD - Oklahoma City Energy FC): Atiba got the start Sunday, in a 1-0 loss at the Swope Park Rangers.

Adonijah Reid ( Loan - Ottawa Fury) - Adonijah was on the bench Thursday at Toronto FC II, and came on in the 66th minute. Ottawa was ahead 3-2 at the time of Reid’s entrance, but soon found themselves tied up at three. Adonijah would become the hero for the Fury on this night:

Reid’s fourth goal of the season would be the game winner, as Ottawa would hold on for a 4-3 victory.

The win sees Ottawa to 8th place in the Eastern Conference.

Brandon Servania & Jesus Ferreira Jr. (Loan - Tulsa Roughnecks): Brandon received a call-up to the USMNT U20s.

For those not following the Roughnecks, you have missed out on Jesus Ferreira simply elevating his level of play, and showing signs of being that great scorer that everyone envisions him becoming one day. Jesus started Wednesday’s game at Seattle Sounders II, and entered the match having scored three goals in USL action for the Roughnecks. Jesus would go on to double his goal total on the night, becoming the first ever Roughneck to earn a hat trick:

Despite Ferreira’s heroics, Tulsa would have to settle for a 4-4 draw.
