Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga: On Tuesday (9-11-2018) Weston got the start for the USMNT against Mexico, but had to leave before halftime of the 1-0 win, due to a potential knee injury. That left many USMNT and Schalke 04 fans rather anxious to here the extent of the injury, many worried would turn out to be a knee sprain. Weston received some very good news:

Weston returned to Schalke to receive further treatment, and was cleared in time to start this Tuesday in UEFA Champions League action against visiting Porto (Portugal). The teams played pretty evenly, until in the second half Weston made his move:

Schalke 04 would take the lead momentarily, but Porto would soon equalize, and the game would end in a 1-1 draw.

Chris Richards (AP/FCD - Bayern Munich/U19 Bundesliga): Chris was with the USMNT U20’s last week, and started several games as they finished 2nd place to the USMNT U19s, in the 2018 U.S. Soccer U20 Men’s Invitational. The U20’s would win two games, but lost to the U19s by a 1-0 score.

Richards started Saturday at Freiburg U19, and with Bayern jumping out to a 3-0 lead, he helped the team extend it to 4:

The goal is Richards second of the season for Bayern, both of them off set pieces. Still, it wasn’t enough, as Freiburg would mount a furious rally to force a 4-4 draw at the death.

Wednesday, Chris Richards and Bayern Munich U19 began group play in the UEFA Youth League. They are in Group E, with AEK Athens U19 (Greece), Ajax U19 (Netherlands), and Benfica U19 (Portugal). In a departure from U19 league play, Richards started at left back for Bayern Munich U19 at Benfica U19. It was all Benfica on the day, as Bayern would go on to lose 3-0.

Mauro started Thursday against 1st place Al Sharja, as Shabab Al Ahli Dubai would go on to lose 2-1.

Shabab Al Ahli Dubai FC is currently 6th place in the Arabian Gulf League Table.

Omar Gonzalez (DFW - Atlas FC/Liga MX): Omar started on Thursday (9-13-2018), in Copa MX action at Atletico Zacatepec (Ascenso MX). Atlas is currently the worst team in Liga MX, and they needed a draw to advance out of their group. Atlas would go on to lose 3-2 against the Mexico Division 2 side, and are now eliminated from Copa MX.

Omar started Saturday against visiting Tijuana, in a foul mired match that saw 5 yellow cards, and both teams finish with 10 men on the field. Atlas would lose 1-0 to remain dead last in the Liga MX Table.

Kellyn Acosta (AP/FCD - Colorado Rapids): Kellyn started at Right Mid for the USMNT against Mexico, in the 1-0 win.

Kellyn started against visiting Atlanta United FC, and even though he had four shot attempts (only one on target), Colorado was simply no match for the high powered Atlanta attack. Colorado would go on to lose 3-0.

Lee Nguyen (DFW - Los Angeles FC) & Walker Zimmerman(FCD - Los Angeles FC): Lee and Walker both started Saturday against visiting New England, in a hard fought 1-1 draw.

Francis Atuahene (FCD/Loan - Oklahoma City Energy): Francis has not featured for the Energy for quite some time, and looks like a waste of a loan.

The win sees Ottawa to 7th place in the Eastern Conference.

Brandon Servania & Jesus Ferreira Jr. (Loan - Tulsa Roughnecks): Brandon was with the USMNT U20s, and participated in the 2nd place finish at the 2018 U.S. Soccer U20 Men’s Invitational.

Jesus started Wednesday against visiting Sacramento Republic. Jesus had zero shot attempts before being subbed out in the 77th minute. Brandon came off the bench in the 63rd minute with his team trailing 2-1, but that was as close as Tulsa would get, as Sacramento would pull away to hand Tulsa a 4-1 defeat.
