FC Dallas vs San Jose Earthquakes: Highlights, stats and quote sheet

All the facts from a wild back and forth game.

FC Dallas stumbled yet again this season against the San Jose Earthquakes in a wild 4-3 loss on Wednesday night. Here is a quick breakdown of it all.

Head Coach Oscar Pareja

General thoughts on the match…

Very wild. It was a game with a lack of balance from our side. And when you score three goals in an away game and you don’t get points, obviously something didn’t work well. Defensively we didn’t play well and that cost us the game.

On offense scoring multiple goals...

Crazy at some point. Especially in the second half. Trying to get more bodies up front and then the game just became very unorganized for both teams. But the overall game, I thought there was a very, lack of balance from us. We scored goals. We gave away goals. We scored another goal. We gave another one away. So that’s the result. And maybe for the fans, it’s good because a lot of goals were scored. But for the coaching staff, not good.

On Santiago Mosquera...

Yeah happy to see Santiago getting back into the rhythm. He had an injury, came back today looking strong. I saw a lot of good things from him. So he’s a bit of positive news for the team. To have somebody else help us in these next few games.

Midfielder Santiago Mosquera

On impact subbed on in second half...

The idea was to be a breath of fresh air for the team. I knew I was coming from an injury that had disabled me for a while, but I was very excited to be back. I know what I can give to help the team.

On scoring tonight...

It was a thrill. From moment that I stepped on the field, I wanted to return in the best way possible. More than anything, thank God for the goal. I was able to score a goal that above all means the most to me personally, to continue to grow and to bring hope to the team. This team has good qualities and we are doing well. We hope we can raise our heads up and continue to our the objective.

On Saturday’s match vs. Houston...

We’re good. Motivated. We have a bit of rest. We have to rest up and make it home. It’ll be different when we are there because we will be with our fans. It’ll be a nice game where we will be able to enjoy it with our fans and keep our heads up to continue moving forward.

Forward Dominique Badji

General thoughts on the match...

Yeah it was a crazy game. A lot of goals and kind of hectic. You know, we could’ve done our part and not conceded a couple of those goals. And up top we could’ve scored a couple more. And sometimes that’s just how the game goes. It doesn’t go your way, but we’re looking forward to bouncing back on Saturday.

On integration with team so far...

You know, like I’ve said, chemistry takes time. And being able to be out there and play games is the most important part. You can have as much chemistry as you want. You can be great in practice, but you’ve got to have some end product on game day. And tonight it showed.

On quick turnaround...

As athletes, you’ve got to have short-term memory. And so, yeah, we lost today. Yeah, we can be down on ourselves for a couple more hours. But tomorrow’s new day and the game plan tomorrow is gonna be for Houston. And we’re gonna forget about this or use it as motivation to make up for what we didn’t do today on Saturday.
