Report: Kellyn Acosta on the move to Colorado

New, comments

FC Dallas could be swapping one of their prized Homegrown players.

MLS: Chicago Fire at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Jon Arnold of the Dallas Morning News is reporting that FC Dallas midfielder Kellyn Acosta will be traded to the Colorado Rapids. In exchange, Colorado will send forward Dominique Badji (who received his green card this week), international slots in 2018 and 2019, the Rapids 1st round pick in 2019, and a portion of any transfer fees Colorado earns on any future sale.

While the pieces heading back are generous and FC Dallas and the central midfield depth has been a club strength, Acosta’s departure is another foundational piece of the Oscar Pareja era leaving during this transfer window.

FC Dallas will be adding a target striker who has shown he can produce in MLS and seems to have the qualities that would fit well with the club’s style, but the cost of the academy’s jewel and a US national team regular is a lot to digest.
