The draw for the Round of 16 in this year’s U.S. Open Cup took place on Thursday morning. FC Dallas has been given a tall task as they will hit the road on June 16 to battle Sporting Kansas City.

These two sides met last year in the USOC quarterfinal stage. It also pits together the winners of the last two tournaments as SKC are the defending champions, while FC Dallas won it back in 2016.

The winner of this match will get the winner of the Houston-Minnesota series in the quarterfinal round. Houston will host that match should they advance.

These four teams are in the Midwest geographical pairing for the tournament. The winner of this “group” will face off against the winner of the West region, which consists of both Los Angeles teams, Portland and Sacramento.

What do you make of this pairing for FC Dallas? Disappointed that they’ll have to find a way on the road again?
