FC Dallas vs San Antonio FC: Game thread

Here is your match thread for tonight’s game.

MLS: U.S. Open Cup-FC Dallas vs San Antonio Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

FCD brings out the 4-3-3 again tonight

FC Dallas begins their quest for a third U.S. Open Cup title tonight as they head down I-35 to battle USL side San Antonio FC.

FC Dallas notes:

FCD in the USOC. FC Dallas is 33-19-6 in U.S. Open Cup play since 1996. FC Dallas has won its last eight U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round matches (6-0-2) dating back to Aug. 6, 2003. FCD won both draws via PK shootout and is 5-1-0 all-time in PK shootouts in USOC competition.

International limits. One thing to keep in mind is that FCD will only be allowed five international players on the game day roster tonight. Players with green cards will be exempt from this like they are in league play however.

Key player. Matt Hedges. The captain will likely lead a young squad into this tough road match that will not be easy by any stretch. Hedges has also scored four goals in Open Cup play over the years, so getting him involved in some set pieces could play a vital factor tonight.

Halftime lead. Since 2015, FCD has a record of 48-9-25 if leading or tied at half.

Injury Report

OUT: Kris Reaves (Core Muscle), Anton Nedyalkov (broken collar bone)

LOAN: Anibal Chala (L.D.U. Quinto), Adonijah Reid (Ottawa)

San Antonio Notes:

How they got here. San Antonio defeated the Midland Shockers FC in the second round 4-0. They then had to go to penalty kicks in the third round to defeat Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
