Week 10 brings plenty of games and plenty questions. Here are five of the most pertinent questions.

Is New York red or blue?

Major League Soccer’s most heated rivalry is set to take place this Saturday at Red Bull Arena between New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls. The New York Derby occurred five times in 2017 with NYCFC primarily coming out on top in league matches. NYCFC’s league dominance continues to this day as they currently sit atop the league and conference table with 20 points. Their weekend opponents have not been so great. Sitting sixth in the conference with 12 points in hand, the New York Red Bulls got off to a rough start due to CONCACAF Champions League play. Now, having started the season off murky, they must climb their way back up, and a win this weekend will help do so. Whether New York ends up blue or red this weekend, there is one thing certain, this is going to be a match you won’t want to miss.

How will California affect Dallas?

Saturday night will be FC Dallas’ first chance at playing new MLS expansion club Los Angeles FC. The new L.A. side has started life in the league well, currently sitting second in the Western Conference. Things for LAFC have gotten even better recently with the opening of their home stadium. They had their first chance to play in the Banc of California Stadium last weekend against the Seattle Sounders. The game was highly entertaining and ended in a 1-0 win to LAFC after a scorching free-kick was scored in the final minutes by Laurent Ciman. Now, a week later, FC Dallas will travel to Los Angeles’ new home and will hope to not share the same defeat as the Sounders.

What is going on with San Jose?

The 2018 MLS season has not been too kind for the San Jose Earthquakes. After making a myriad of changes during the offseason, the Northern California team still can not get it right. They have started their season in poor fashion, only winning one of their first seven games. For the time being, they sit second to last in the Western Conference, only one point above the Seattle Sounders. San Jose will have a chance to get out of their funk this weekend against the Portland Timbers, who since returning home to Providence Park, has really kicked it into gear under new head coach Giovanni Savarese.

How long can Orlando’s streak last?

Orlando City SC kicked off the 2018 season sluggish. The Florida team was unable to win a game in their first three contests. Now, the club has won five matches in-a-row. Jason Kreis’ offseason moves appear to have finally fit together as the team is basking in winning ways. Orlando has been knocking off out-of-form teams and will continue to have the chance this weekend as they are set to host Western Conference midtable team Real Salt Lake. At the moment, Orlando sits third in the Eastern Conference, a win this weekend could see them draw second with Atlanta United.

Can Seattle and Toronto get back to winning ways?

Seeing where Toronto FC and the Seattle Sounders currently rank in MLS goes to show that the league has parody. The two teams that were in the 2017 MLS Final are now the worst teams in the league. This is in part to the aggressive scheduling of the CONCACAF Champions League, but still, the season has not gone right for them. Both teams will have the chance to reignite themselves this Wednesday as they play in each in an MLS final rematch.
