Hoops Home and Abroad: Richard Sanchez shines in Chicago

Richard had a big week, and made a case for himself as the Fire's permanent starter.

Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga: Weston started for Schalke 04, Sunday at Koln. Weston had a solid performance, he finished with two tackles, one interception, five clearances, one blocked shot, two key passes, two aerials won, one shot (not on target), and finished with 84.2% passing accuracy. Schalke 04 would have to settle for a 2-2 draw.

With the draw, Schalke 04 remains 2nd place in the Bundesliga Table.

Keaton Parks (DFW - Benfica/Primeira Liga): Keaton started on Monday, and played the full match in a 2-1 win at Sporting CP II.

Ramiro Funes Mori (DFW - Everton/Premier League): Ramiro suited up, but did not play in a 1-0 win against visiting Newcastle United.

Mexico - Clausura Torneo

Omar Gonzales (DFW - Pachuca/Liga MX): Omar started Saturday, and played the full match in a 0-0 draw at Queretaro.

Nicholas Hagen (AP - Municipal/Guatemala), Blas Perez (FCD - Municipal/Guatemala): Blas started Sunday, at Suchitepequez, and played the full match. Nick suited up, but did not play, as Municipal settled for a 0-0 draw.

The draw, extends Los Rojos winless streak to seven, and sees them to 9th place on the Liga Nacional Table. Municipal finds itself three points out of the final playoff spot, with two matches remaining in the Clausura season.

Moises Hernandez (FCD/AP - Comunicaciones/Guatemala): Moises started Saturday against visiting Malacateco, and played the full match in a 2-0 win.

The win sees Los Cremas move back up to 5th place in the Liga Nacional Table.

Anibal Chala (FCD - LDU Quito, Loan/Ecuador): Anibal continues to not feature for LDU Quito.

Major League Soccer

Chris Seitz (FCD - Houston Dynamo): Chris suited up Saturday, but did not play in a 5-1 victory over a Toronto FC team that featured a reserve heavy line up.

The win sees Houston move to 7th place in the Western Conference.

Lee Nguyen (DFW - New England): Lee did not feature for New England this week.

Brek Shea (DFW - Vancouver Whitecaps): Brek started Friday at Sporting Kansas City, and played 72 minutes in a 6-0 loss. Vancouver had two players get a red card in the 40th minute, but were already down 3-0 before the double red.

The loss drops Vancouver to 6th place in the Western Conference.

Richard Sanchez (AP/FCD - Chicago Fire): Richard started Saturday, at the New York Red Bulls, and put on a goalkeeping clinic:

Richard would end the night with nine saves, and Chicago would go on to grab a big 2-1 road victory.

The win sees the Fire climb to 7th place in the Eastern Conference.

Sanchez played so well, that he beat out FCDs Jimmy Maurer for the MLS team of the Week nod:

Conor Presley (DFW - San Antonio FC): Conor suited up Sunday, and came on in the 75th minute of a 0-0 draw at Fresno FC.

Walker Hume (FCD - Orange County SC): Walker started and played the full match Wednesday, in a 2-0 loss at Rio Grande Valley FC.

Aaron Guillen (AP/FCD - North Carolina FC): Aaron suited up Saturday, and came on in the 61st minute, at the Ottawa Fury. NCFC was leading 1-0 when Aaron came on, and would go on to earn a 1-1 draw. Aaron had 3 tackles, and finished with 81.1% passing accuracy.

Adonijah Reid ( Loan - Ottawa Fury) - Adonijah got his first start of the season Saturday, against visiting North Carolina FC. Adonijah finished with 65% passing accuracy, and 2 key passes, in a 1-1 draw.
