FC Dallas signs Maxi Urruti to contract extension

Three more years of Urruti at FC Dallas

FC Dallas announced this afternoon that they’ve signed striker Maximiliano Urruti to a three year contract extension. Details of the contract were not released.

Maxi Urruti joined FC Dallas in 2016, following a successful campaign with the Portland Timbers where he helped them win their first MLS Cup. Urruti joined via the Re-Entry Draft and has been locked in as Oscar Pareja’s preferred striker.

In 2016, Urruti helped FC Dallas hoist the U.S. Open Cup and Supporter’s Shield, giving Dallas their first ever double and effectively tripling their trophies in a single season. Urruti has either led or joint led the team in scoring for the past two seasons.

Maxi is currently 9th in the league in xG + xA at 2.46, (xG = expected goals, xA = expected assists) and boasts one of the strongest engines on this team.

For strikers, most start entering their prime in their late 20s and early 30s. At 27, FC Dallas is poised to enjoy the best of Urruti which we hope will translate into many more game winners.

One of the most incredulous stats that we’ve seen regarding Urruti is that the team is 22-0-8 in all competitions when Maxi either scores or assists in a match.

For now, enjoy some of Urruti’s best goals:
