East Stand View: Drab Draw

New, comments

A hot Saturday afternoon left us wanting more than we got.

MLS: Portland Timbers at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Humidity. If there was a day to go outside and experience the power of humidity, this was definitely the day to experience it. Unfortunately, the droopy weather was reflected in the match that was played before us. Not to pile on negatives, but man Portland were putting on a master class time wasting performance after the red card. The crowd was a nice positive though, the amount of people in the stands! But the parking....

Parking Fiasco? Not Attendance Fault.

Showing up right before game time is not a winning strategy this season it seems like. The premium parking rules have cut the available parking by a bit, and as a result people are having to park much farther away. I ended up having to park near the apartments under construction way over on the east side across the street. Saw other people driving up at about the same time parking over there so decided to follow their lead.

The good news is that we continue to fill our partially closed stadium pretty nicely. Both the west side, supporters section and east side were all decently attended. Which makes me afraid for when they finally do open up the south side HOF section and the disbursement of fans becomes a little more sparse throughout. If this is what we’re bringing in right now, the future is scary. THEN imagine the parking situation.

Time Wasting 101

Man, the Portland Timbers fans probably won’t be able to complain about time wasting for the rest of this season. Seems like their team has it nailed down to a science. Portland players went down and the boos came along with it. I expected a little more added time after watching in frustration as precious seconds were ticked away. There really should’ve been 10 minutes of added time. Still, not sure that would’ve been enough time to see the good guys put one in the net...

And finally, your fan quote of the night: “The pre-announcement jingle sounds like an announcement at a 90s mall.” Lol. I won’t be able to forget that.

Was parking a headache once again for anyone going to the game? Anyone else voice their opinion on the Timbers trying to get some time off the clock? What do you think the pre-announcement jingle sounds like? Let me know in the comments below!
