FC Dallas renews USL affiliation for one more year with OKC Energy FC

MLS: U.S. Open Cup-Oklahoma City Energy at FC Dallas Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

C Dallas has renewed its affiliation agreement with USL side, Oklahoma City Energy FC for the 2018 season.

As part of the agreement, Energy FC will play the FC Dallas reserves at Toyota Soccer Center on Thursday, February 8. The match is set to kick off at 10 a.m.

FC Dallas has had the affiliation with their northern neighbors for the last two years. Former Homegrown midfielder Coy Craft saw the majority of the time with OKC, while other players such as Timo Pitter and Colin Bonner also saw good minutes in OKC.

There is a good chance this renewal could bring new life into the affiliation for FCD in 2018 as OKC has a new manager in Steve Cooke. The former assistant to Oscar Pareja in Colorado has been seen at FCD training sessions lately this preseason, so he should have a good understanding of the types of players that could get potentially loaned to him.

Under the terms of the agreement, Energy FC will provide FC Dallas with a pathway for its signees to play in Oklahoma City and continue their development both on and off the field. Energy FC and FC Dallas will continue to share best practices to assist both organizations.

What do you make of FCD renewing this agreement for another season? Disappointed they didn’t try to link up with another USL club instead? Who do you want to see loaned there this season?
