The 2018 regular season hasn’t begun yet for FC Dallas but injuries are starting to show. FC Dallas midfielder Kellyn Acosta had successful surgery to repair a sports hernia today at the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia, PA.
The club stated that he will be out six-to-eight weeks as he recovers from this surgery.
You may recall players like Victor Ulloa and Anibal Chala having this same surgery last season, so the time table for return should be familiar to some.
Acosta has a groin injury all throughout preseason camp this year and was pulled from last week’s final friendly against Portland due to obvious pain. Having him out for nearly two months to begin the season is rough but I would imagine it is better to have this done now than letting it linger all season long and become worse.
Acosta will likely return to the field in late April if all goes well, which means he could miss some very important Champions League games if the team advances from next Wednesday’s second leg against Tauro FC.
