FC Dallas reveals 2018 primary kit

The Texas-flag inspired kit will be used a lot this year.

The wait for the new 2018 primary FC Dallas kit is over. Today the club has revealed their Texas-inspired kit that the team will wear on the pitch for the next two seasons.

“We wanted a kit that reflects who we are – a bold, Texas team,” said FC Dallas president Dan Hunt said in a released statement. “The 2018 primary jersey accomplishes that with its unique color-blocking and Lone Star symbolism.”

The jersey showcases red, white and blue color-blocking and a white, five-pointed star on the left sleeve drawing inspiration from the Texas state flag. The Lone Star also features the initials “LH”, a tribute to FC Dallas founder Lamar Hunt.

Along the back neckline, you’ll find a stylized version of “Pride of Texas” which features a star in place of the letter “X”.

AdvoCare continues to serve as FC Dallas’ official jersey sponsor, an honor it has held since 2012. Their corporate wordmark is prominently showcased across the chest of the jersey in bold white text.

This is certainly a bold move by the club but after last year’s secondary kit with all the stars, it shouldn’t be any surprise to see the club want to own the Texas-theme in this manner. I am a bit disappointed to see the hoops go away altogether but I am digging the color combination on this kit with the blue socks and the red shorts. I would be curious to see what it would look like with white shorts too.

So what do you all make of this year’s kit? Happy with the Texas-themed look? Disappointed with the lack of hoops? Let us know your thoughts below.
