It has been a long time coming for FC Dallas fans to see the development plan for younger players come in to focus with a USL League One team. On Thursday, the club revealed the new name, logo, general manager and first player signing.
The new team will be called North Texas SC. FC Dallas president Dan Hunt discussed how the team would represent not just Dallas but the entire Metroplex with players in the system coming from Fort Worth and beyond.
Leading the charge will be the club’s first general manager Matt Denny. He will be charged with filling out the club’s roster for the first season in 2019. Denny previously was with FC Dallas as the club’s director of group ticket sales. Denny mentioned in the press conference that the club is looking at various stadium options outside of Toyota Stadium. The team will also not wear FC Dallas uniform but unique kits of their own.
Lastly, the club announced their first player signing in 15-year-old forward Ricardo Pepi. He has scored 19 goals through eight games with the U-17s and recently scored for the US U-17s as well. He is the 26th Academy-product signed to a professional contract by the FC Dallas organization.
More will certainly be coming out about this team in the coming weeks but what do you make of the club’s name, logo, GM and first player?
