Dallas gets more defensive help

FC Dallas has signed center back Bressan from Gremio as a TAM player, pending paper work, visas and other official type stuff going through.

Our main Rumor Guru, Jose, first sniffed out this deal back on December 4, with reports coming out that it was a done deal already. At that point, it wasn’t a matter of who, but when.

Bressan is a 25-year old Brazilian center back with over 100 appearances already to his young career. He was a former Brazilian U23 player and started 21 matches for Gremio in 2018.

Center back depth was a much needed area of weakness on this roster, which we expected Dallas to fill either via the SuperDraft or from the Academy but now this creates a very interesting a healthy competition for minutes as neither Matt Hedges or Reto Ziegler are cheap either. Ziegler also holds an international spot, and commands a salary of ~$800,000. Does this mean either Hedges or Ziegler are gone, or this the new way for the Luchi Era and stacking high quality players on the bench and rotating them through out the season?

It’s been a crazy week for FC Dallas off-season news. Remember Luchi was announced on Sunday? Then Muzzi is out. Dallas bought a Cobra and now Bressan? That’s a lot of moves already, and plenty more on the horizon.
