In other news, another worst kept secret was Luiz Muzzi’s exit from FC Dallas for Orlando City has finally happened. It was first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Carisle that Muzzi was soon to depart from FC Dallas and move over to take over the same position as VP of Soccer Operations with Orlando.
The report was initially denied by FC Dallas
But even so, it still appeared that Muzzi’s tenure with the North Texas club was coming to an end.
This could be a bit of a blow to FC Dallas, as Muzzi took over for beloved Fernando Clavijo, and was touted as the right hand man with many major roster moves that helped build Oscar Pareja’s teams that made it the playoffs four of the last five seasons, did back-to-back 60 point seasons, a Supporter’s Shield and an Open Cup trophy. The transition between Clavijo to Muzzi was supposed to be seamless because of how close they worked together.
This will open up a bit of a gap for FCD and how things will operate. No successor/replacement has been identified or named publicly yet. Because of the timing of it, I do suspect and wonder if the Hunts would like Luchi Gonzalez to take both roles in terms of coaching and recruiting. That would make sense given how the team is currently shuffling their technical staff in light of Oscar Pareja’s departure. We’ll keep you posted as things progress.
