Hoops Home and Abroad: FC Dallas teens have a huge week

The plethora of young talent available to FCD, or with ties to FCD were on full display this past week.

MLS: Chicago Fire at FC Dallas Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to another week of Big D Soccer’s coverage of your favorite players with ties to FC Dallas, the FCD Academy, and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

What a great week it has been for just about any young player with ties to FCD. Lets get straight to it.

Weston McKennie (AP - Schalke 04/Bundesliga: A week ago, Weston scored his first goal for Schalke 04 in Champions League play:

He ended up having a Man of The Match performance in the big win at Lokomotiv (Russia):

Weston followed up that performance by scoring his first Bundesliga goal this past weekend:

Weston’s goal would prove to be the game winner, in a 2-0 victory at Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Keaton Parks (DFW - Benfica/Primeira Liga): Keaton started for Benfica II Saturday in a 0-0 draw at Cova Piedade. The draw keeps Benfica II, second place on the Segunda Liga Table.

Keaton is spending his international break training with the senior team:

Anton Nedyalkov (FCD - Ludogorets/Bulgaria): Anton started in a 4-1 victory at Botev Vratsa. The win sees Ludogorets climb to 2nd place in the First League Table.

Chris Richards (AP/FCD - Bayern Munich/U19 Bundesliga): Chris started Saturday against visiting Stuttgart U19, in the Junior DFB Pokal (Jr. German Cup). Bayern would be eliminated following a 3-1 defeat.

Richards has started in every Bayern Munich U19 match, even all the UEFA Youth League matches. Bayern continues to heap praise on Richards:

It is no surprise then, that Richards is spending his International Break working out with the Bayern Munich senior team.

Ramiro Funes Mori (DFW - Valencia/La Liga): Ramiro was called up to the Argentina National Team, and started in a 4-1 victory against Iraq.

Emerson Hyndman (DFW - Hibernian/Scottish PL): Emerson continues to shine in the Scottish PL, scoring his first goal for Hibernian this past weekend:

Emerson was rewarded for his recent stellar play:

Middle East - Preseason

Mauro Diaz (FCD - Shabab Al Ahli Dubai/UAE): Mauro did not feature this past week for Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.

Omar Gonzalez (DFW - Atlas FC/Liga MX): Omar started last Friday, in a 3-1 loss at Santos Laguna. Atlas continues to be dead last in the Liga MX Table.

Alejandro Zendejas (AP/FCD - Guadalajara/Liga MX): Alex started for Guadalajara in a Friendly against visiting Pumas. Alex would help Chivas seal a 2-0 victory:

Fabian Castillo (FCD - Tijuana Xolos): Fabian started Saturday against visiting Queretaro, and scored his first Liga MX goal:

Tijuana would have to settle for a 1-1 draw, and are now 10th place in the Liga MX Table.

Central America

Blas Perez (FCD - Arabe Unido/Panama): Blas did not feature for Arabe Unido this week.

South America

Anibal Chala (FCD - LDU Quito, Loan/Ecuador): Anibal was called up for the Ecuador National team, and the Ecuador fans were not at all thrilled by this news. Chala did nothing to help endear himself to the fans, as he was a second half substitute against Qatar, and was called for a penalty inside the box in the 58th minute. The penalty would be converted and Ecuador found themselves down 3-0, before rallying to lose by a close 4-3 margin.

Major League Soccer

Kellyn Acosta (AP/FCD - Colorado Rapids): Kellyn was called up for the USMNT, and started against Colombia. You all know what happened:

Yes it was a 4-2 defeat against a near full strength Colombia side, but Kellyn was one of the few bright spots for the USMNT.

Lee Nguyen (DFW - Los Angeles FC) & Walker Zimmerman(FCD - Los Angeles FC): Lee and Walker both started Saturday at the Colorado Rapids, in a match that saw LAFC looking to clinch a playoff spot in their first year of existence.

Zimmerman would set them on the right course, very early into the match:

Lee would get in on the action, earning the assis on the second goal of the night:

LAFC would go on to earn a 3-0 victory, and becomes just the 5th expansion team to make the playoffs in their debut season.

Francis Atuahene (FCD/Loan - Oklahoma City Energy): Francis has not featured for the Energy for quite some time, and looks like a waste of a loan.

Devin Vega & Shaft Brewer (AP - Phoenix Rising): Raise your hands if you were aware that Devin Vega and Shaft Brewers are teammates on one of the favorites to raise the USL trophy at the end of the season? I didn’t know, and it turns out that they are both starters. Vega and Brewer both started Saturday at the Las Vegas Lights, and Vega helped Phoenix strike supper early:

Vega got the assist on the opening goal, and with both teams tied at 1-1 nearing halftime, Vega stepped up to put his team ahead:

Phoenix would go on to lose 5-2, as Las Vegas would mount a late furious assault that would result in 4 goals after the 71st minute.

Brandon Servania & Jesus Ferreira Jr. (Loan - Tulsa Roughnecks): Brandon and Jesus both received some serious praise from the USL this past week:

Neither player featured for Tulsa this past week, as both were recalled by FCD. Jesus was actually in the 18 for FCD in their big win against Orlando City SC, but Servania was somewhere else:

Not only was Servania in Germany training with Bayern Munich, he also got in on this:

Brandon was a second half sub for Bayern Munich II, in their 2-1 defeat against Viktoria Plzen U23.

Adonijah Reid ( Loan - Ottawa Fury) - Adonijah wasn’t about to let his fellow USL loanees out shine him:

Finally, there’s this:
