After doing well in the first round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, FC Dallas made two more selections in the second round, starting with Mauro Cichero from SMU with the 29th pick overall.
With the 34th pick, FCD also selected Georgetown midfielder Chris Lema.
Cichero was regarded was one of the top attacking midfielders in college soccer before he tore his ACL. In 2017, he had nine goals and seven assists for SMU. He is the younger brother of former New York Red Bulls defender and Venezuelan international Gabriel Cichero.
Lema (pictured above, right) brings a solid technical ability on the ball. He was a former Red Bulls academy product before he landed in Georgetown. He was a consistent start for three of his four seasons with the Hoyas, scoring five goals and adding in 12 assists during that time.
Both players will join the team for preseason camp beginning next week. Neither are under contract with the league as of this writing, as they’ll work towards earning one in preseason.
