The odd-ball Thursday game is here for us as FC Dallas is set to take on the Houston Dynamo tonight in the second match of the 2018 Texas Derby.
FC Dallas is coming off a pretty simple 2-0 win last weekend over Minnesota while Houston has lost five straight, including a 2-1 loss to Salt Lake last weekend that saw them give up the game-tying goal and winning goal in stoppage time.
FC Dallas notes:
Last time against Houston. It was only a few weeks ago that these sides squared off in the first installment of this year’s Texas Derby. After a wild start that saw each team score in the first ten minutes, things settled down until another wild sequence that saw Roland Lamah miss a penalty, Houston score on the counter attack seconds later, only to have that called back by VAR.
Recent history in Houston. FC Dallas is 9-10-12 all-time vs. Houston and 4-7-5 all-time in Houston. FCD is 6-1-5 vs. Houston since March 17, 2013.
Key player. Pablo Aranguiz - We got a nice glimpse of what he can bring to the attack for FC Dallas last weekend against a weaker Minnesota team. While he may not go the full 90 just yet, his ability to get through a defense with his ball skills and passing is something Dallas will need to get on the board in this one.
