Power Rankings: How low can you go

Records are within reach, and not the kind you brag about.

MLS: FC Dallas at Minnesota United FC Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The team lost 4-1 at expansion side Minnesota United FC. MUFC not too long ago, was being talked about, as possibly one of the worst teams in MLS history. That’s all you need to know. That’s how bad this last loss was. That’s how far this team has fallen. Power Rankings appear almost trivial now.

Still, as bad as things have been, this still has yet to hit rock bottom. This team is still one win away from turning it all around. This team still has hope. And so, the Power Rankings go on.

I was going to talk about the fact that this team is nearing some records of the losing kind, but instead, I’ll give you some hope.

There are three teams that are consistently ranked below FCD. That’s three teams that wish they had it as good as FCD has it right now. Four of FCDs five remaining matches, are against those three teams.

* These rankings were posted before Wednesday’s game *

MLS - Ranking 17 ( Last Week 13)

Comments: It’s not much fun to be an FC Dallas fan right now. No wins since July 22, and a playoff spot that slips further out of reach by the day. Yeah, they’ve got games in hand, but it’s a stretch to believe this team will do something with them given their form and bad body language. Time to prove the politburo wrong, Papi.

ESPNFC - Ranking 18 ( Last Week 17)

Comments: Everyone is running out of words to describe this team's horrific fall. Its defending on Saturday was abysmal. Is coach Oscar Pareja on the hot seat?

Planet Futbol - Ranking 18 ( Last Week 14)

Comments: FCD has yielded at least three goals five times during its 10-game winless streak. The 23 goals allowed during the freefall compares to the 19 conceded in the club's first 19 league games this year.

SBI - Ranking 17 ( Last Week 13)

Comments: Literally nothing has gone right for FC Dallas in the last two months. Yet somehow they can bounce right back into the postseason conversation with two wins this week against teams they really should be beating.

Soccer America - Ranking 19 ( Last Week 16)

Comments: Well, what else can go wrong? Tesho Akindele opened the scoring, but then hit the post, and then was sent off. Mauro Diaz failed to convert a penalty kick with the score 2-1. Ten games without a victory and many, many more problems than solutions.

The Score - Ranking 16 ( Last Week 13)

Comments: It's all gone downhill for FC Dallas, now well and truly out of a playoff berth at eighth in the West. Hopes of salvaging the season grow dimmer each week.

One Football - Ranking 13 (Last Week 12)

Comments: Every week puts us at a greater and greater loss for words to try understand what has happened to FC Dallas. A 4-1 loss to Minnesota is just the latest chapter in an inexplicable season.
